Steven G. Friedman brings to Marks & Harrison a wealth of legal knowledge and experience. Before joining the firm in July 2020, he worked for more than two decades at the National Legal Research Group, Inc., in Charlottesville, acting as an associate for hire for lawyers and firms nationwide.
At the NLRG, the nation’s largest and oldest legal research firm, Steve assisted with a variety of legal practice areas, serving attorneys as his clients. Now he helps colleagues at Marks & Harrison advocate for people and their families who have experienced negligence or personal injury.
“I feel like I’m more directly helping people get their lives back on track,” he says.
A New York City native, Steve is the first lawyer in his family. Since he was a child, he has lived in Virginia, moving to Fairfax before he was five years old. Currently, he works out of the Marks & Harrison office in Charlottesville.
Befitting a natural researcher, Steve loves history. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in sociology in 1996 from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He then earned his law degree in 1999 from Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in Arlington.
He joined the NLRG that same year, joining a full-time staff hailed as “outstanding graduates of top U.S. law schools.” In addition to research, Steve drafted thousands of various legal documents and provided analysis and consulting services for attorneys in dozens of state and federal courts.
He does much of the same work at Marks & Harrison, concentrating on cases involving personal injury, workers’ compensation, wrongful death, and disability issues. He’s proud to be such a valued resource to his colleagues.
When not working on a case, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and two dogs. When left to his own devices, Steve likes to binge on Netflix, read fiction novels, and cheer on his beloved Virginia Cavaliers and the Washington Football Team.
