According to local news, two massage spa employees have been accused of sexually assaulting customers in just eight months at Unique Foot Relaxing Spa in Midlothian, Virginia. The most recent alleged assault was committed on February 5 by Zeng Huicheng. The 44-year-old spa employee was charged with sexual battery by a massage therapist, which is a felony. Police stated that the victim was “touched inappropriately outside the confines of what was expected in the massage.”
The first incident occurred in June 2023 by a different massage therapist, Jian Lu Gao, who was charged with sexual battery.
Police reported that neither accused employee had a valid massage therapist license as required by Virginia law. The massage parlor was previously advised to get appropriate licensing for their employees. However, the issue was never fixed. They now have seven violations relating to their business license.
Unfortunately, investigators report that there may be more victims who have not come forward yet. Statistics show that more than two out of every three sexual assaults go unreported. There are many reasons why survivors may not feel comfortable reporting their assault, especially if it started as a consensual massage experience that turned inappropriate. But according to police, it is a felony for a massage therapist to touch you intimately in a way you did not consent to.
At Marks & Harrison, we understand that this is a horrifying experience and frankly is more common than most people know or the massage industry wants to admit. We encourage any other survivors to try to tell their stories in a way they’re comfortable with so they can demand justice for what they have suffered and prevent something like this from happening to others in the future. Our personal injury attorneys have handled cases similar to these accounts, including women who were sexually abused while receiving services from Massage Luxe Williamsburg.
A massage should be a relaxing and safe experience. Customers are in a vulnerable position, and massage businesses have a duty to protect their customers from predatory employees. When they fail, victims have a right to hold them accountable. While reporting the abuse to the police is an essential first step, a personal injury lawyer can help you pursue compensation for the harm you suffered.
