Ryan Walker Speaks at VTLA Conference on Settlement Agreements

Marks & Harrison attorney Ryan Walker took the stage at the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) Conference, leading a session titled “Settlement Agreements: Conditional Clauses, Tax Implications, and More.”

Ryan walked fellow trial lawyers through some of the key issues that can come up when negotiating and reviewing settlement agreements. He covered everything from payment structures—like lump sums vs. structured settlements—to indemnification language, confidentiality clauses, and the fine print that can easily cause problems if not handled carefully.

He also touched on topics like lien resolution, Medicare Set-Asides, and Virginia’s “tender and walk” statute, giving practical advice on how to protect both clients and attorneys.

We’re proud to have Ryan share his knowledge with others in the legal community and represent Marks & Harrison at this year’s VTLA conference.
