Members of the Marks & Harrison legal team were among the nearly 1,100 people who participated in the National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMIWalks event on October 5. The fundraising event kicked off Mental Illness Awareness Week in the Richmond area.
Mental illness affects everyone directly or indirectly through family, friends or co-workers. According to NAMI Virginia, 1 in 5 adults in America experiences a mental illness at some point in their lifetime.
Each year, NAMI volunteers across the country raise awareness of mental illness through NAMIWalks, which is the nation’s largest mental health awareness and fundraising event. Marks & Harrison participated in the 5K walk held at Innsbrook North Shore Commons in Glen Allen.
NAMI is an organization that raises awareness of mental illness and works to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. Every year, during Mental Illness Awareness Week, NAMI brings together thousands of individuals and supporters across the country to celebrate mental illness recovery, honor those who have lost their lives to mental illness and to help raise funds, combat stigma and promote awareness.
